Hello out there from Dawn here in the A Clean Cigarette blog world! Typically we talk about all sorts of electronic cigarette topics, today’s topic is very time sensitive and very important to your electronic cigarette rights.
Many of you may have read our blogs about electronic cigarettes on planes. If you have not Click HERE to review what your current rights are in this arena. As of now the rules seem pretty clear. No checking the batteries on, just put them in your carry on. But what happens if you can not travel with them at all?? What if they stop them from being even on carry on luggage? Does it even make sense to ONLY ban e-cigs based on Lithium Ion batteries when all kinds of electronic use these same devices? Are they going to ban lap tops and cell phones next? Or is this just an attempt by the “powers that be” to set yet another unreasonable attack on electronic cigarettes? That may be exactly what is happening and we need your help!
Here is what we know so far thanks to our wonderful Mr. Scott Everett out of Lansing Michigan:
The bill is called: Senate Amendment 3547, (Click the link to find more information)
What it does: prohibit airline passengers from bringing “electronic smoking devices” on planes in their
carry-on and checked baggage.
When will they be considering it: Right Now! They can decide on this at any time so we need to speak out now!

What you can do to help:
Please take action NOW by calling your senators and urging them to oppose this amendment. You can find contact information for your US Senators and talking points for your call HERE.
Please also take a moment to send an email to your senators urging them to oppose this amendment.
What Scott has to say:
“If this amendment is accepted, vapers will be forced to leave their batteries and devices at home or surrender them at TSA checkpoints before being allowed through security. This would impose a completely unwarranted and unnecessary expense on travelers who vape.
Beyond the issue of flying with vapor products, the spirit of this amendment (prohibiting lithium ion batteries on board commercial flights) might as well include a ban on carrying ANY portable electronic device in checked or carry-on baggage. Can you imagine not being able to travel with laptops or cell phones?”
A few tips to help with the written call to action:
(Writing Tip #1) If you have a lot to say, please craft your email in a separate word doc and then copy/paste it into the field provided. If you take too long, they system will time out and you will lose your work.
(Writing Tip #2) Although we’ve provided a pre-written email with compelling talking points, we would strongly encourage you to edit the email because personalized communications to legislators are far more persuasive than form letters. At a minimum, PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PERSONAL STORY (just a few sentences) in the text of your email.
Please take time to get involved. These rights will effect you and other electronic cigarette users for years to come. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit today and if you have any thoughts, questions or conserns drop me a direct line to AccAnswers@gmail.com. I will respond ASAP! Thank you again. 🙂
