Hello everyone, Dawn here and today we are going to chat about a few things that you may or may not be seeing in the news regarding electronic cigarettes. And oh boy had there been a lot going on. Some good news, some not so great and some just strait out bull crap as well as some needed updates. Today we are going to take a look at this list of headlines/current events and what we at A Clean Cigarette think about each.
First, let’s chat about some of the good stuff…
“DEFIANT CONGRESSMAN VAPES DURING CAPITOL HILL HEARING ON E-CIGS”
This bit of information deserves a special call out to one of our amazing customers Tracy Albert. He is always keeping an ear out for us and he brought this to our attention. Thank You Tracy!
This Congressman has a lot to say on the new regulations and bills being sent through the government. It’s a short video and worth the click. We could not agree with him more when he basically says that vapor devices, of all types, are the way of the future.
Now let’s look at some of the bull crap…
This is just bull, I mean even though as an industry we can not claim smoking cessation yet, there is no reason for plain out misinformed headlines like this one:
“Study: E-cigarettes don’t help smokers quit”
Even in this article they could not say this with out having to cover the truth of how bad the science behind this “study” is. Take a look at what they included:
That is the definition of bad science there, but the reason we think this is bad science is because of what our customers have to say. Let’s here from a couple of them now. They can tell us if e-cigarettes helped them or not.
If you are interested in hearing from even more of our amazing customers check out our FREE A Clean Cigarette Magazine. It’s available HERE on line or for a paper copy stop into any of our store locations. We are proud of what our amazing customers have to say and we are truly thankful for each and every one of you.
Alright so then what about this headline..
“Could FDA E-Cigarette Regulations Help More People Quit Smoking?”
Nothing like mixed signals right? On one hand the FDA and other “powers that be” would like you to believe that electronic cigarettes are NOT a useful tool; but they want to to know they would be a useful tool, if those same “powers that be” can make money off of them via regulations and the cost’s associated with regulations.
The thing is we are not against all regulations. We are just forever hopeful that the regulations will keep companies like A Clean Cigarette brand electronic cigarettes in mind. They have a history of making the regulatory process to expensive that only big corporations such as big tobacco and big pharmacy can compete. Not only do small companies like ours suffer, consumers like you suffer.
What update are we seeing on the 95% report and e-cigarette smoking cessation decision in the UK…
“E-Cigarette Market In The U.K. Part 1: A Health Threat Or A Cure?”
This article updates us on this side of the pond about whats been happening in the UK since the 95% Public Health England Report opened the doors for electronic cigarettes as quit smoking aids.
Here are a few quotes from the article, although the whole thing is worth the read.
- “E-cigarettes sales surged in the U.K. to become the fastest growing supermarket product by volume and value in 2014. According to insights firm Nielsen, while sales of traditional nicotine replacement products, such as patches and gum, dropped 6.1% in 2014, those of e-cigarettes soared 50% year-on-year to 17.3 million units.”
- “This shift can be attributed to positive reviews about the products and their efficacy in helping smokers quit”.
- “They are also considered a game changer in the tobacco industry, supported by falling cigarette sales at a rate of 2.2% by volume.”
- “E-cigarette technology has exploded in the U.K., with 2.6 million adult Britons using the devices in 2015, according to the anti-smoking charity ASH. A 24% growth over the previous year can be attributed to a rise in the number of ex-smokers using electronic cigarettes, as evidenced by the Smokefree Britain Survey conducted by YouGov, which showed a 4.5% increase in 2014, and a 6.7% growth in 2015 for electronic cigarette use among ex-smokers.”
They also post a really great chart from The anti-smoking charity, ASH that explains well WHO is buying electronic cigarettes and WHY.
